This weekend while in Pensylvania visiting family we hiked up the thousand steps. The kids made it look really easy! They were way ahead the majority of the time waiting on the adults to catch their breath. Going up was pretty difficult, it isn't quite the same climbing steps as it is going for a hike on a trail. The views were breathtaking! From what I can gather the 1,000 steps, technically 1036 steps were used by quarry workers to get to and from work everyday. I can tell you that by the time we got to the top we only wanted to sit and rest for a while. I can't imagine having to work a full day after climbing them.
